OK, it’s taken about two days, but I think I’ve just about recovered from “The Vodka Incident”, though I have been constantly reminded of it ever since 🙂 We’ve moved on to more adventure with the Shotover Jet, the Gondola and Luge and I’m afraid I might be turning into an adrenaline junkie. Paige and I didn’t quite make it bungee jumping, but we watched it and that’s nearly the same thing lol. No seriously, we are determined to come back here soon and have another adventure holiday where we do everything: parasailing, zip lining, canyon swing and finish it off with a bungee jump. Crazy? perhaps… but you’ve got to have a bit of a thrill now and then.
Queenstown is a fantastic place for a holiday. We’re semi-serious about upping sticks and moving to NZ (Paige is serious and I’m semi-serious). We’re staying at a place called Green Gables, a house about 15 minutes walk out of town. Naturally as soon as we heard it was called Green Gables we knew it was the place for us (a reference for anyone who doesn’t automatically go ohhh when they hear that name). It’s a fully furnished house with washing machine and all that. At least I thought it was a washing machine. Put a load on and was pleasantly surprised to find the washing machine dried as well. On closer inspection I realised that no water was actually going in to the “washing machine” and it was in fact a dryer. Oh well, after all that detergent I put in, it is a very clean dryer 😉
We’re all leaving tomorrow and will be sad to do so as it’s nowhere near long enough, but I’m flying up solo to the North Island for another adventure so stay tuned…
Places to eat/drink:
- Vudu – amazing breakfasts
- The Winery – like a whole lot of wineries in the one shop
- The World Bar – great pub plus big screen tvs in case you want to watch the rugby
- Rata – Wow. Just wow. Dinner for special occasions (with a price to match)

Wow Sam you have taken a huge leap of faith on this trip. Within a short couple of years you have grown from a teary vacationer to someone who has now grown so much in self confidence that you’re contemplating an expat life of your own.
It’s amazing what can be achieved when you’re pushed out of your comfort zone. So traveling has a really positive experience for you.
And yes I think your adrenaline rush ideas are crazy, but not for you 😉
